Only the décor remains, Borschemich ...

In Nordrhein Westfalen, amongst other places in Germany, the RWE ( a power generation company ) exploits open mines where brown coal is extracted.
Tagebau Garzweiler is one of those mines and when the resources come to an end they expand. Tagebau Garzweiler 2 comes then in the picture and therefor villages have to disappear for this giant. First the inhabitants are "umgesiedelt"(relocated) and then the village gets "abgebaggert"(excavated).
Borschemich is one of those many villages that disappear for "The Greater Good"...
For this visit I took my trusted Fuji X-E1 and the XF14mm, being lightweight and performing at the same time.
Now on to the pictures ...

Only the décor remains, for now ...

Les Grands Moulins ...

Les Grands Moulins is a rather well known Urbex location I visited some time ago.

It was a factory that turned grains of corn into flour, build in 1921 and employed 200 workers during its highdays. In 1989 it closed definitively. Several ideas to reuse these premises have occured but until this day none of them saw daylight.
All images shot with a Fuji X-E1 and the XF14mm.
